Back To .500 With Win Over Brooklin

by Mike Hancock

Following a tough 12-11 loss, their second in a row, on Monday night at home to the Brampton Excelsiors that sent Oakville below .500, the Rock bounced back with an 8-6 win over Brooklin on Wednesday night.

The Rock’s defence proved to be the foundation upon which this win was manufactured.  Nick Rose made saves that should have been difficult, look incredibly easy.  His calming presence between the pipes seemed to fuel the defensive effort and also give the offence some breathing room as goals were tough to come by.

Up front, Ryan Smith carried the offensive load scoring three goals and an assist with some help from Dan Lintner’s goal and four helpers.  Brad Kri, Cory Highfield, Brandon Slade and Andrew Kew all potted singles.

The win brings the Rock back to even at 6-6-0 and gives them sole possession of third place in the MSL standings with six games remaining on the schedule.  Monday Night Lax features a matchup with the Cobourg Kodiaks at the TRAC on, you guessed it, Monday night at 8pm.
