Rock Defeat Brooklin 8-5

Dan Lintner’s Hat Trick pushes Oakville into third spot.

Oakville, ON – The Oakville Rock (8-7) defeated the Brooklin LC (2-12) by a score of 8-5 on Monday night at the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre.

The Rock opened the scoring just 3:28 into the first period when Ryan Smith turned the Brooklin defence inside out finding the back of the net.  Dan Lintner followed that up by firing one past Zach Higgins for a 2-0 lead. Connor Kearnan responded for Brooklin, as the Rock held a 2-1 lead after 20 minutes of play.

In the second stanza, Lintner scored his second of the night from in tight. In what is becoming a regular occurrence, Eli Salama went right down main street and scored, pushing the Rock lead to 4-1. Brooklin’s Connor Kearnan added his second goal on the night, cutting the Oakville lead in half. Moments later, Brad Kri stripped the ball from a bewildered Brooklin player and took the rock to the rack, restoring a 5-2 lead for the home side. Both teams exchanged goals to close out the quarter, Dan Lintner recorded his hat trick taking a 6-3 lead into the final frame.

Dan Craig made it 7-3 just under three minutes into the third quarter. Jake Fox powered his way to the front of the net giving Brooklin some life down 7-4 with 9:12 reaming in the game.  Josh Jubenville put this game out of reach, rolling past three Brooklin defenders and tucking the ball into the top corner extending the Rock lead to 8-4. Jake Fox added a late one, as the Rock’s defence kept Brooklin at bay the rest of the way. 

The Rock will be back in action on Monday, July 29th at the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre when they host the Peterborough Lakers. Fans can watch every game this season live on lacrosse-tv.com.
