Chiefs Stage Third Period Rally And Silence Oakville Offence

Oakville, ON – The Oakville Rock (0-2) were edged for the second straight game by the Six Nations Chiefs (2-0) on Monday night at the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre, this time by just a goal, 11-10.  The Chiefs also got the better of the Rock by a score of 10-8 in last week’s Major Series Lacrosse opener for both teams in Six Nations.

The Rock lineup was bolstered by the 2019 MSL debuts of Rob Hellyer, Brad Kri and Dan Craig.  The Chiefs matched that by having Lyle Thompson and Dillon Ward gear up for their first outings of the season.

After giving up the first goal of the game, the Rock responded with four straight including a pair from forward Andrew Kew.  Six Nations responded with two goals to make it a 4-3 game after one.

The second period was a wild one with the two teams combining for 12 goals, each team scoring six times.  Kew scored another pair to run his total to four goals through two periods while Oakville held on to a one-goal lead, up 10-9 through 40 minutes.

In the third period, Ward shut the door for the visitors allowing Brendan Bomberry to tie the game 10-10 and giving way to Cody Jamieson scoring what would stand up as the game winner with 10:23 to play.  The Rock offence couldn’t solve the Chiefs’ netminder and Six Nations escaped with the win.

The Rock will be right back at it when they travel to Brampton’s Memorial Arena on Thursday night at 8pm to face the Excelsiors.  Oakville’s next home game is Monday, June 10 at 8pm against the Peterborough Lakers.  Fans can watch every game this season live on lacrosse-tv.com.
