Rock Eliminated in MSL Final

Oakville, ON- The Oakville Rock magical run came to a halt on Saturday night at the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre. The team trailed 3 games to 2 in the Best-Of-7 final and were beat 9-8 on home floor.

"This one is going to sting for a while," said netminder Nick Rose, who was sensational in the final series and really kept the Rock in it through 6 games.

Oakville had been dealing with a plethora of injuries heading into the final series, which was only magnified more with veteran defender Alex Crepinsek and Rookie Andrew Kew out for Game 6.

"We took great strides this season," said Rose. "To make it this far and lose, it really hurts, but you have to give them (Peterborough) credit, they are the defending Mann Cup Champions and they through everything at us."

By winning the Ontario Championship, the Lakers will now host the Maple Ridge Burrards in the Mann Cup, for the Canadian Championship, with the 7-game series being hosted at the Memorial Centre in Peterborough.

Following the series, Rock GM Josh Sanderson stepped down as the team's GM. The team will use the off-season to find a replacement.
